Elsi - Timber Frame Residential Construction System

Elsi originated as an in-house project aimed at creating a residential building system, leveraging our extensive experience in system engineering. Our focus was on learning from past projects, particularly in avoiding common pitfalls, while also emphasising aspects critical to our understanding of fabrication and construction processes.

This venture has since evolved into a standalone company, 'elsi', established by leaders from Element alongside experts in MMC fabrication and construction, Easi Space. The joint effort provides a comprehensive 'Design and Build' service for housing developers, leveraging the significant advantages offered by our system.

The system is designed as a modular, panelised KoP (Kit of Parts), with building assets at 'human scale' where sensible to facilitate ease of handling and construction, prioritising manual handling, and reducing dependency on heavy lifting machinery.

Emphasising the use of standard timber stock and sheet materials, the system achieves an impressive 97% material utilization rate. This efficiency significantly reduces waste, a common issue in traditional construction methods
